2017 was a banner year for Capitol Tech Solutions as we grew our team became more focused and put together a strategic plan for future growth in 2018 and beyond.

Agency Growth with Focus on Customer Service

What a wonderful year 2017 was for Capitol Tech Solutions. Like any business there were ups and downs but ultimately we grew our team increased User Experience revenue and positioned ourselves well for the future.

2017 photo of Capitol Tech Solutions Digital Agency TeamTo ensure that our partners received the excellent customer service we have become known for we added many new members to our team. A priority of 2017 was to bring on dedicated Account Managers that would serve as the primary contacts for our clients. We are excited to say that after searching for individuals that understood our company philosophy we welcomed three dedicated Account Managers to our team. Steven Sara and BJ have proven to be a perfect fit for our company culture and work every day to exceed our client’s standards of service.

We also understood that each potential client who contacts our office has unique needs and business goals that need to be understood before we can develop a successful strategy for them. To meet this changing business dynamic we brought on Robert as our dedicated New Business Development Manager. He works as the initial point of contact with potential clients taking the time to understand what they need and how CTS can best partner with them to create a successful business solution.

The growth of our team continued to the design and development side of our company. Che who worked part time on our graphic work was brought on full time as our lead Graphic Designer. His talents have proven vital to our award-winning designs. Lastly we added Brady a Database Visualization Expert to work with our Student Information System (SIS) clients. Brady’s talent for taking substantial amounts of data and expressing them in a user-friendly visual format has been a great benefit for our clients.

We are excited about what the future holds our talented team. With these new hires we are confident that we have the best pieces in place to scale and exceed the needs of our client partners.

Award Winning Digital Team

2017 WebAward Badge & Davey Award Badge for Web DesignOur Digital Design and Development team realized great accomplishments this year. Headed by our Lead Web Designer Jeremy Hawes CTS won multiple web design awards. After partnering with Midtown Dental Sacramento’s top ranked dental office Jeremy and his team were acknowledged for hard work. In September CTS was presented with the Web Marketing Association’s 2017 WebAward in the Medical Standard of Excellence Category for Exceptional Website Design and Development Services. In December CTS was selected by a panel of Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts members to receive the 2017 Silver Davey Award in the category of Health Websites.

While we are very honored to receive these honors we are even more proud that our work has exceeded the goals the Midtown Dental team had for the site. By partnering with them we were able to understand their business goals and develop a user-friendly site that generates over 40 new patients a month.

Giving Back to Our Community

In the beginning of 2017 we wanted to dedicate CTS to giving back to the community that has made us a successful agency. As a company we sponsored over $25000 to local Sacramento non-profits and look to increase that in 2018. We also wanted to extend this sense of giving back in our team members. Some of their community involvement highlights include serving as a member of the local AMA chapter speaking to graduate classes at Sacramento State and Robert not only volunteering as a Big Brother for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Sacramento but being nominated as Big Brother of the Year.

We are proud of our community involvement in 2017 but want to expand it both as a company and individually in 2018.

Change in Company Philosophy

2017 not only brought accomplishments and changes to our team it brought a change to our philosophy as a company. We previously considered ourselves a Web Design agency with a separate Software Development team. While they did collaborate on some projects internally we thought of them as two separate teams. However we knew as a web design agency we were in a tough spot. Website building platforms are becoming more sophisticated and so our expertise in just building websites was losing value.

To address these industry changes as a team we embraced repositioning ourselves as a Digital Agency. This brought the software and design teams under one umbrella and shifted our focus from primarily web design to full User Experience and Software Development solutions for our clients.

The resulting change has yielded impressive results for our clients. No longer do we just build pretty websites we create full functioning business marketing platforms that help generate business for our clients and become a functional tool. We realize that just putting up a website doesn't necessarily help a business to the point that it can be a waste of money. The truth is it's not an "If you build it they will come" solution.

Following this shift our client's businesses are growing while our non-profit clients are raising more money and creating more influence in the community. We worked with some of the biggest names in the region including the fast-growing PowerSchool the popular Pushkin's Bakery and KVIE and will continue to grow our client base with well-known Sacramento businesses.

Embracing Additional Platforms

2017 also saw us embrace successful platforms. Traditionally we built from scratch any software we needed including our own in-house CMS. But it became too difficult to scale and there are thousands of platforms out there. We did our research and have decided on specific platforms that work best for our customers.

  • Ecommerce Solutions work best on Shopify. Thus we became a Shopify Certified Partner and designed seven websites on the platform. We are the only certified partner in the Sacramento region and continue to help retail and eCommerce companies grow online.
  • Political Websites and Associations are built on NationBuilder. NationBuilder has quickly become a leading platform for Organizer based groups leading to great solutions for Political Campaigns and Local Associations.
  • Standard Websites are developed on WordPress. As a company we are late to the WordPress party. However as we worked on large scale sites built on WordPress we quickly became comfortable with the platform and the many features it can provide for our clients. Shifting to the WordPress Platform also allows us to scale more quickly.

Into the Future

In 2018 we look forward to executing on our new strategic plan. In a nutshell we strive to be the leading Digital Agency in Sacramento. It’s a tall order but we have assembled a talented team and believe the hard work we put in will continue to yield strong results for us and for our clients. It’s exciting to see the success of businesses in the Sacramento Region and we are thrilled to be just a small part of it.
