Web Design Project Background

Suspects Dinner Theater has been running its murder mystery show in Sacramento since 1989. They approached Capitol Tech Solutions because their website was over 10 years old and felt it was time to both update their design and increase their efforts in driving new business via the web. During the recession, Suspects Theatre had consolidated down to one show a week, and they approached our User Experience team looking to expand their reach. They wanted the benefits of a modern website design while integrating a shopping cart feature so users could purchase tickets for upcoming shows.

eCommerce Solution

For the sake of speed and flexibility, we developed this website from the ground up. We integrated the Cartloom platform, a full featured eCommerce solution, into the website to allow for ticket purchases. We also integrated our CMS platform so shows can be added at any time by the client. Our proposed solution would allow Suspects Theatre to manage their inventory for their shows, and update their website as needed. In the end, allowing the customer to input new show times, manage ticket inventory, and effortlessly add tax and gratuity to purchases gave them the tools they needed to grow their business. eCommerce Purchase and Design

To update show times, Capitol Tech Solutions implemented a custom CMS with direct links to Paypal. Cartloom’s quickpay feature allowed customer payments to go off without a hitch. Unlike the client’s previous site, this site does not require flash player for its initial animation. Furthermore, the size of the page easily adapts to all different form factors. Customers can view and purchase tickets on their smartphone, or on their PC’s wide-screen monitor.

Suspects Theater also wanted a unique design to show off the show and the Delta King in Sacramento, which is where the show takes place. We designed a skippable animation that works on all devices to lead into the website as a fun trick to introduce them to the show. We also highlighted the Delta King throughout the website as this is a landmark in Sacramento, and helps users identify with the show.

The transition from old site to new went through with almost no down time whatsoever.
