Overview

The Sacramento Police Foundation’s public website had become inaccessible after administrative access to the previous hosting environment and content management system was lost. Without access to the original website files or source code, the Foundation needed a reliable partner capable of rebuilding its online presence while preserving the organization’s existing content and public identity.

Capitol Tech Solutions partnered with the Sacramento Police Foundation to fully restore the website by manually recreating it in WordPress, ensuring the Foundation once again had a secure, modern, and easy-to-manage digital platform.

The Challenge

Unlike a traditional website migration, this project presented several unique challenges:

  • The original website was no longer accessible.
  • Administrative credentials and hosting access had been lost.
  • The original content management system was unavailable.
  • No export or migration path existed.
  • Existing content had to be reconstructed from archived versions of the website and supplemental materials.

Rather than simply replacing the website, the goal was to faithfully restore the Foundation’s online presence while modernizing the underlying technology.

Our Solution

Capitol Tech Solutions performed a complete manual reconstruction of the website using WordPress. Our team leveraged archived versions of the previous website, recreated page layouts, rebuilt navigation, restored content, and modernized the overall platform to provide a secure and maintainable solution.

The project included:

  • Manual reconstruction of the website from archived content
  • WordPress implementation using a modern content management system
  • Responsive design for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
  • Recreation of existing page layouts and navigation
  • Content restoration and formatting
  • Secure hosting environment
  • Administrator access for Foundation staff
  • Ongoing hosting and technical support

Because the original platform could not be migrated, every page was rebuilt by hand, ensuring the Foundation retained its public-facing information while gaining the flexibility and usability of a modern WordPress website.
